I.A.C. Freediver Basic *

Requirements:

- Proof of swimming ability
- valid diving medical certificate or declaration of state of health
- at least 12 years old

Theoretical training:

- I.A.C. Freediving safety rules
- Medicine (breathing reflex, blackout, diving reflex, lung function, barotrauma, first aid measures)
- Training methods (conventional methods, mental exercises)
- Breathing and relaxation techniques
- safety techniques
- Risks in freediving
- equipment
- written exam

Practical training:

- Basics of breathing techniques in preparation for the dive and recovery breathing after the dive
- correct donning of equipment
- correct position during static diving (STA) at the beginning of the dive and correct protection during ascent
- complete STA of at least 1 minute
- buddy safety in STA incl. rescue exercise
- Perform buoyancy control for dynamic (DYN) diving
- Demonstrate a DYN start and the correct fin stroke during a stretch dive
- DYN dive of at least 25 meters
- Introduction to deep diving with a dive to a maximum depth of 10 meters

I.A.C. Advanced Freediver **

Requirements:

- Proof of Freediver Basic *
- valid diving medical certificate or declaration of health condition
- at least 16 years old

Theoretical training:

- I.A.C. Freediving safety rules
- Medicine (breathing reflex, breathing technique, lung function, first aid measures)
- Introduction to pressure equalization
- Training methods (conventional methods, mental exercises)
- Breathing and relaxation techniques
- belay techniques for this level
- Buoy setup and knots for deep diving
- Risks in freediving
- Introduction to the laws of Dalton and Henry
- written exam

Practical training in the pool/limited open water:

- Completion of at least 4 apnea dives
- 40 meter distance dive
- Demonstration of a turn during a distance dive
- Complete a STA of at least 1:30 minutes
- Securing of a STA attempt (buddy securing)
- Repetition of rescue techniques in STA

Practical training in open water:

- Completion of at least 4 apnea dives
- Introduction to Free Immersion Diving (FIM)
- Duck Dive with and without rope reference
- Demonstration of a turn on the rope
- 15 - 20 meter deep dive (open water)
- Rescue of a freediver from 10 - 15 meters, transport to shore, first aid measures
- Learn safe handling of the lanyard

I.A.C. Freediving Leader ***

Requirements:

- Proof of I.A.C. Freediver Advanced **
- valid diving medical certificate or declaration of health condition
- at least 18 years old

Theoretical training:

- I.A.C. Freediving safety rules
- Medicine (breathing reflex, breathing technique, blackout, diving reflex, lung function, barotrauma, first aid measures)
- Training methods (conventional methods, mental exercises)
- Breathing and relaxation techniques
- Safety techniques for this level
- Risks of freediving
- equipment
- written exam

Practical training in the pool/limited open water:

- Completion of at least 4 apnea dives
- 60 meter distance diving
- Practical use of training tables as a training tool in STA and DYN
- Design STA and DYN warm-up
- Complete STA of at least 3 minutes
- Safeguarding and first aid measures in DYN

Practical training in open water:

- Complete at least 4 apnea dives.
- Dive site preparation, briefing and grouping
- Adjustment of the equipment during a familiarization dive (1st open water dive of a beginner)
- Demonstration of proper freefall techniques including position changes during the fall
- Demonstration of the correct approach to new depths
- Safeguarding and execution of deep dives to 20 - 30 meters
- Rescue of a freediver from 15 meters depth, 25 meters tow ashore, first aid measures (incl. O2 and AED demonstration)
